Collection: Heirloom Chrysanthemums South Africa

Heirloom chrysanthemums are making a beautiful comeback in the gardening world, and once you grow them, it’s easy to understand why. These are not the stiff, uniform florist mums you may be used to seeing. They are soft, romantic, garden-grown flowers, filled with character and movement, with beautiful stems and an incredible vase life.

At Love Dahlias, we are growing and selecting our heirloom chrysanthemums specifically for South African conditions, focusing on strong stems, reliable flowering and varieties that perform beautifully as cut flowers.

One of the things I love most about chrysanthemums is when they flower. Just as many of our summer flowers begin to slow down, the chrysanthemums take over, extending the flower season beautifully into autumn and giving us an abundance of blooms at just the right time for Mother’s Day bouquets.

We propagate our chrysanthemums from basal cuttings — the fresh new shoots that emerge from the base of the mother plants.

Our rooted heirloom Chrysanthemum basal cuttings will be available for approximately the first two weeks of November, once our Dahlia and Gladiolus season has come to an end. Orders will be dispatched shortly after the Chrysanthemum sale closes.
